Lakehouse Weekend

This past weekend we enjoyed some nice down time at the lake, hanging out with family, playing games, and just relaxing.

Adolfo definitely has had fishing on his mind, lol, so we googled a bait shop in the area to ensure we could swing by a live bait shop on our way to the lakehouse.

We found one!

We had tons of food! Grandma sent us with a nice tray of Chicken Salad sandwiches, and PJ made a wonderful sweet tray......had to get a picture of the greatness!

Before we started our day, and headed on the water, the guys enjoyed a nice game of Wii golf....

Waiting to go on the boat.....

Taylor's already in relax mode....

Sisters.....

Our little miss sunshine......

We got to spend some nice, quality time with our cousins from AZ....
Claudia's first time on a tube, thought it was a cute picture of her and Jaime, lol...

Going back out....

Jughead, Heather, and Chica....

Our Captain....My hubby, doesn't he just look like he should own a boat, what a pro!

Kelsey took us all on 4-wheeler tours of their property, lol, I even got to drive. I think I was too slow for her, lol, here is my mom enjoying her ride!

The guys enjoyed a few nice games of horseshoes....

Chica even brought back to old game of 4-Square, really fun!

Chica and Uncle Curt (My Dad) went snorkeling, lol!

After a long day on the lake, evening of horsehoes, basketball, 4-square, and a family game of capture the flag....we enjoyed a nice dinner and SMORES, made with love by Chica!

We ended the evening with a game of Wii Golf, and I am pretty excited I improved my game! The last time I played it told me to "Give up", yep I was that bad, but with the help of my cousin Jughead, he fixed my game, and it was pretty fun! We decided to end the night with a nice game of monopoly, lol, and we played until 5AM. Now I remember why I don't play this game, it takes FOREVER, but I have to say it was probably to most fun I've ever had, my cousin Fern definitely made it unforgettable!

All in all, we had a wonderful time hanging out with the family! Adolfo woke up Sunday morning and headed out for a couple of hours of fishing, we had breakfast, played a fun game of dominoes and then we loaded up and headed home. Thanks Chica for sharing the lakehouse with us all, we had a blast!

After 2 LONG years, today is the day!

Since I was a little girl people have always told me I have such pretty, thick natural brown hair.

Two years ago, I was getting my hair cut for my bridal portraits, and I told my stylist I wanted to do something special with my hair. I love my hair, it's a blessing, and I wanted to share it.

I decided from that day forward I was not going to cut my hair, just trims and shaping, until I found an organization, and I had the proper length.

Originally my plans were to donate to Locks of Love, but they wanted 10 inches, and I still felt like that was going to take awhile. Long hair has definitely tested my patience, and so I started doing research about organizations, and to see if there were others that would require a shorter length. I found Pantene Beautiful Lengths, an organization that makes beautiful wigs for cancer patients, and they took 8 inches! It had been a really long time since I measured, and it's been weeks that all I can do is a bun. I was getting too frustrated with it, and I new it was time to get out the ruler again. One day at work one of my friends measured, and I had 9 inches, and some....I was SO EXCITED! The time was FINALLY here, I had a place and the right amount!

Part of this was hard because Adolfo loved my long hair, and a part of me had grown attached, but my personality is short, it's sassy, energetic, low maintenance, and I just missed short hair. I talked with Adolfo, he knew why I had originally done it, and he knows I love my hair short, and being the sweet husband he is, he said schedule an appointment! YEAH!!!

So today was the day.....All braided and ready to go!
My moral support! Tay always said she wanted to be there, so her and my Mom came to town...

Let the snipping begin, lol, I don't think I stopped smiling from this point forward!

DONE! It was so liberating, my hair was gone, my goal complete, and a cute, new haircut!

Tada, I'm LOVING it!

I am so excited to think of how this is going to help another girl. Just a fact, it takes 6 pony tails like mine to make one wig....so try it out, go long, then chop it off! Funny thing is it wasn't till I cut it off that I realized so many of my loved ones around me had such strong opinions about my hair, lol. Now, I'm ready for the summer!

May the best team win!

I LOVE playoffs! But what I really love is any team that beats the LAKERS! Adolfo is a huge Lakers fan, and me, well not so much. When we go out to watch a game, and people ask me my favorite team, my quick response usually is anyone who is playing the Lakers, lol.

Well Celtics, you drove me CRAZY this evening, horrible, just horrible!

So let the games begin, and bring on game.....

May the BEST team win!

Our Walk to Remember, lol!

Adolfo and I took a break from work and studying on Sunday to enjoy a nice walk on a new trail he's been talking to me about. He always finds these neat little places when he is looking for places here to fish.

So finally we decided to check it out, and just get out of the house and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air! Little did I know this nice, calm, relaxing walk would turn into a 5+ mile hiking trail, lol! Looking back WOW we got a fabulous work out, and nice tan, but it killed me! Thank goodness God blessed me with a husband who is patient, and a HUGE motivator and encourager, because I wouldn't have finished without him, but I am so glad I did. I can't wait to do it again, just probably more in the evening, to enjoy a beautiful sunset, we'll have to time that just right!

There were so many beautiful things to see, the trees, no sky lines, the water trail & running rivers, and just a nice 2.5 hour conversation with my husband....but as we were walking, and Adolfo was waiting for me to "catch-up" look at our little treasures! I feel like it was God's little gift to us, our special moment on the trail to remind us what it's all about.

Our Love Rock and walking cane!
First of all, isn't that rock just perfect, I LOVE IT! Here is what makes it even more special, I saw it on the way up the trail, and was bummed I didn't have my phone to capture it....but then we just kept going! As we were walking we found this stick, it was perfect size for Adolfo, and it reminded me of my Grandpa's old cane stick, I didn't say anything at the moment, it just made my heart harm remembering his stick. As we were walking Adolfo said he wanted to keep it strip is a bit, and polish it, and he was going to turn it into a walking stick, PERFECT! One of the million things I love about him, is some of his ways remind me so much of my Grandpa, his kindness and peacefulness...and here he goes again, now he will have a walking stick story to share with his grand kids too!!!!!

As we were walking I brought up the rock, I think he could tell I liked it (I like hearts), so he said if it was still there he would carry it back to the car, so I could take my picture......so 2 miles later here you have it our picture.....my heart, his walking stick!

Where have we been?

Wow, it's like I've run out of things to say, lol! Life has definitely been controlling us lately, and it's time to take it back! I felt it only appropriate to join the blog world again, and start anew. Life is calm at the moment, and we are welcoming summer with open arms, so to express this transition I felt it was time for a template change, and I LOVE IT! Summer Fling, thought it was appropriate for the next chapter in our lives, lol. It's a little bit of me, little bit of Adolfo....red for me of course, and blue because I LOVE him in it....very calm, relaxing, almost a Nautica theme feeling, with is perfect for us!

There is too much to share, and the beauty of a great picture is that I can share it with you, with little words, lol! So, where have we been, what have we been doing.....Enjoy, and it feels great to be back!

Adolfo has been wanting to get me out to a skeet range, so we finally did it. I'm not going to lie, I was HORRIBLE at it, but he was amazing, his shot is right on, and I get so excited for him. So although I was bad, I did great at "flinging" the skeet for him.

Loving my Hunter!

It didn't take me long to realize, maybe I'm not the best at this, lol, Ouch! I didn't hit a single target, but it really is an exciting, liberating, stress-free feeling once you fire that shotgun....It felt so good!
We've done our fair share of enjoying plenty of BBQ's....I think we could have one daily, lol. We starting of Memorial Day weekend with the family back home, so relaxing!
Enjoying Mom's Banana Pudding, I don't think we could imagine my life without one of my Mom's signature dishes!

We've celebrated Graduations! Adolfo's cousin graduated from Highschool (Left) and we enjoyed all the festivities...She'll be joining the Freshman class at St. Edward's in the Fall, and we couldn't be more excited for her!

We've celebrated Birthdays....

We've celebrated quality time with each other, FINALLY!
The Castro's, 2010

We've celebrated old friends....My friend Kelley from college was in town and oh how I've missed her! We don't get to see each other a great deal, but each time we get together, it feels like we've never been apart! We met Freshman year at ACU over "Tea time", and we've been friends ever since. This trip was important because I finally got to meet baby P, he's absolutely adorable, and she is a beautiful Mommy! It was fun playing tour guide and just getting to spend time with one another again!

We've definitely been enjoying the WATER! We spent a few weekends past floating the river with family, pre-flooding! It was so nice tagging along with H&G and Chica, and just relaxing on the river! The water was cold, and it was so HOT, so it was perfect!

Now, Heather is never one to have let us down for fun, entertaining adventures, and this trip definitely lived up to that! She is such a mother hen, lol, but it's what we love about her, BIG HEART! So, funny story.... every time I show our river pictures, everyone says "You took your camera!" Well, yes I did, lol. And I could tell I was stressing heather out, lol....
Castro's, Relaxing on the River, 2010 (See we don't look stressed!)

Haha, yeah, because it was PRE rapids! We all got our moments of us vs. rapids, and needless to say the rapids won! Chica got scratched up, heather banged her knee, and I just completely got flipped upside down, lol! Come to think of it the whole time we said Adolfo was the only one to service the river rapids, but I can't remember what happened to Gerald?!?! Well, anyways, when I flipped, lol, there went my camera for the rest of the trip, Momma Hen was right, I had it in a case, but I wasn't expecting the rapids at all!

Adolfo and Momma Hen were right, this was it for the pictures of our trip, lol. I know I know, I need to listen, but then I couldn't have captured all these special moments :)!
So worries, after few days of prayers and patiently waiting my chip and camera work like a charm!
